Rowing Sets Out to North Carolina for Lake Wheeler Invite

NORMAN - The Sooners travel to Raleigh, N.C. for the Lake Wheeler Invite this weekend, with racing slated to begin on Friday, April 21 and conclude Saturday, April 22.

Oklahoma will have five boats compete in a field of 17 teams. The competition includes four ranked opponents and four programs that are actively receiving votes in the weekly CRCA/Pocock poll. The Big 12 Conference is well-represented this weekend, as Alabama, Tennessee and Kansas will be hitting the water with the Sooners. OU will make their second appearance in the Invitational, following their first showing in 2022.

"Lake Wheeler is a great event. We will get three races in this weekend among a big field of competition," said head coach Sarah Trowbridge. "We look to build off last weekend and close the gap on these strong teams, and adding some best times to our season."

The first OU boat will hit the water at 10:24 a.m. CT on Friday. Races will be split up into three sessions across the two-day competition and will be live streamed on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE FIELD

Seventeen teams make up the competition for this regatta: Alabama, Boston University, Clemson, Tennessee, Duke, Iowa, Syracuse, Penn, Kansas, Georgetown University, Louisville, Miami, US Naval Academy, University of Central Florida, North Carolina - Chapel Hill and Washington State University.

Four of the seventeen are ranked in the top 20 of the CRCA/Pocock poll: No. 14 Duke, No. 19 Iowa, No. 9 Syracuse, No. 8 Penn.
