Tanner Groves was named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America Third Team as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Groves was a first team honoree after his first season in the Crimson and Cream and joins Alvan Adams (1974, 1975) as two-time selections. It marks the third consecutive season a Sooner was named to one of the three teams. Brady Manek was selected to the third team after the 2020-21 season.
Prior to his time with the Sooners, Groves graduated from Eastern Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies. The Spokane, Wash., product is pursuing a Master of Arts in organizational leadership degree and has a 4.00 GPA.
Groves started 32 games and averaged 10.2 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds per outing. He recorded six double-doubles this season and led the Sooners in rebounds on 15 occasions.
