Fatta Winter Cup Bound

February 22, 2023 | Women's Gymnastics

NORMAN – Future Sooner and 2023 signee, Addison Fatta, will compete at the 2023 Winter Cup at 11:30 a.m. CT Saturday inside Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky.

Due to the high number of participants in the senior women's session, the competition start time is pushed forward by 30 minutes. The broadcast is still slated for Saturday at noon CT on NBC. Senior women's podium training will stream live on USA Gymnastics' YouTube channel from 7-9:30 a.m. CT Friday.

The women's competition was first introduced to the Winter Cup in 2021, when Olympic silver medalist and UCLA sophomore, Jordan Chiles, became the first women's division champion. In that same meet, Fatta tied for fifth on vault and finished seventh in the all-around. The following year, she finished sixth on bars at the 2022 Winter Cup.

Fatta is coming off a pair of international assignments in fall 2022, Swiss Cup (Nov. 27) and Szombathely World Challenge Cup (Sept. 30-Oct. 2). Fatta represented Team USA alongside OU men's gymnastics alumnus and 2020 Tokyo Olympian, Yul Moldauer, to become the second American duo to win the 2022 Swiss Cup in Zürich, Switzerland. In Szombathely, Hungary, Fatta won gold on vault and bronze on bars.

A two-time national team member (2021, '22), she was selected to participate at the U.S. Women's World Team Selection Camp last October and was named to the 2022 Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last July. Over the summer, she finished 10th in the all-around at the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships and placed fifth on beam and sixth on bars at the 2022 U.S. Classic.

Chosen by her fellow competitors, USA Gymnastics awarded Fatta the 2022 Sportsperson of the Year for her reputation as a hardworking and kind leader who listens to and supports her peers within the sport. In 2021, Fatta was selected as one of only 16 women invited to take part in the U.S. Olympic Trials, where she finished 11th overall.

Fatta officially signed with Oklahoma on Nov. 9 and will arrive in Norman for the 2023-24 season.
