Top-Ranked Sooners Dominant in Road Win at Texas Woman’s

DENTON, Texas – The No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team showcased its depth in a 198.325-195.075 victory over Texas Woman's University Sunday afternoon inside Kitty Magee Arena.
"A community effort from the entire team," head coach K.J. Kindler said. There was a buzz in the arena and the mental game from everyone was on point. We earned every tenth. Very proud of them."
Competing in their seventh meet of the season and fifth on the road, OU improved to 11-0 as they posted their second-highest score of the season. The mark is the fourth consecutive 198-plus score as the Sooners currently hold the best score on the weekend.
Thirteen Sooners competed on at least one event in the meet, with six competing on at least three events. OU was able to boast eight of its 10 upperclassmen, including the entire senior class. OU took no less than the top three spots on each event against the Pioneers, finishing in the top five positions on three events (vault, bars and beam).
Sophomore Jordan Bowers won the all-around for the fourth straight week and fourth time of her career with a 39.500, which included a 9.950 on bars and a career high 9.975 on beam for her fourth title on the event. Junior Audrey Davis grabbed a pair of event titles on vault (9.950) and bars (9.975), matching career highs on each. Davis earned her second vault title this season and 16th career bars title. Freshman Faith Torrez matched a career-high 9.950 on floor for the fourth time this season to earn her third title on the event.
"That's two vault sticks in a row for Audrey and her bars and beam were among her best today," Kindler noted.
The Sooners swung strong on bars with a 49.650 for their third-best score on the season. OU posted four out of six scores in the 9.900-range. Sophomore Danielle Sievers led off the Sooners with a season-high 9.925, wile Torrez and sophomore Danae Fletcher earned 9.800 and 9.850, respectively. OU ended the rotation with three 9.9-plus scores, including a pair of 9.950s from Bowers and senior Ragan Smith, and Davis' third near-perfect 9.975. Davis and Smith's score matched career-highs. Super senior Olivia Trautman returned to bars this season in the exhibition spot for a 9.775.
"Loved how they came out fighting on bars with Dani lighting it up in the leadoff," Kindler said.
In the second rotation, OU showcased six Yurchenko 1.5s and a Yurchenko full in the exhibition spot for a 49.500 on vault. The Sooners started off the rotation with Sievers (9.900) who posted her fourth 9.900-plus score this season. Fletcher and super Senior Allie Stern added a pair of 9.875s, which was a career high for Fletcher. Junior Katherine LeVasseur returned to the vault line up with a 9.900, while Davis stuck her vault cold for a career-tying 9.950. Junior Sheridan Ramsey competed for the third time this season in the exhibition spot for a powerful Yurchenko full for a 9.800.
"Vault depth continues to improve," noted Kindler. "It's difficult to select the lineup each week, so warm-up and touch become deciding factors."
The Sooners switched up the order on floor and posted a 49.500. Junior Bell Johnson returning to the lineup with a season-high 9.900. Smith answered the call with her energetic routine to match a season-high 9.925. Fletcher and Sievers showed off their routines for scores of 9.850 and 9.875, respectively. Torrez matched the best score of her career with a 9.950, while Bowers anchored with a 9.850.
"Ragan has been putting in the work on her floor landings and you could definitely see that pay off," Kindler said.
OU wrapped up its day with the second-highest beam score on the season with a 49.675. The Sooners posted five out of six scores in the 9.900-range. Senior Jenna Dunn led off the Sooners with a 9.850 on the event, while Trautman (9.900) earned her fourth consecutive 9.900-plus on the event. Bowers was superb with the best score of her career with a near-perfect 9.975. Davis and Torrez matched a pair of career highs with a 9.950 and 9.900, respectively. Smith anchored the beam lineup with an impressive 9.950. Returning to beam this season, LeVasseur and freshman Ava Siegfeldt earned 9.850 and 9.800, respectively, in a pair of exhibition spots.
"Thrilled to see them attack beam and really capture the moment like that," Kindler noted.
Oklahoma kicks off a two-week home stretch starting Friday against West Virginia at 6:45 p.m. CT. The party continues the following Friday, March 3 against No. 2 Florida at 7:45 p.m. in a highly anticipated matchup of two of last year's NCAA Championships squads.
