SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – For the second year in a row, Oklahoma forward Madi Williams was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Midseason Top 10 Watch List, given annually to the nation's top small forward, presented by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
Williams has cemented herself as one of the top players in the country and is the only player in the nation to average 27 points, 10 rebounds and four assists per 40 minutes in 2022-23. She leads the Sooners in points per game (16.8) and averages 6.3 rebounds. Earlier this season, she became the first Sooner to eclipse 2,000 points, 850 rebounds and 300 assists in their career. The Fort Worth, Texas, product needs 50 rebounds to become the third Oklahoma player to tally 2,000 points and 1,000 career rebounds.
In 2022-23 alone, Williams has posted 14 games with at least 10 points and five rebounds, guiding No. 20 Oklahoma to a 17-4 record. She has reached double-digit points in 16 of the Sooners' 21 games this year and the forward has now posted 10 or more points in 116 games, second-most in program history.
Fans can support their favorite players in the remaining rounds by participating in Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, starting Friday, February 3, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
Five finalists will be presented in March to Cheryl Miller and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The Selection Committee for the Cheryl Miller Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers.
