NORMAN – Oklahoma men's gymnastics freshman
Ignacio Yockers has been named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's gym Freshman of the Week after posting the nation's highest pommel horse score this season, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Yockers, a product of Tulsa, Okla., scored a 14.800 on his pommel routine during OU's win over No. 7 Illinois and No. 8 Air Force Saturday night. He won the event by .350 points and his score was the best nationally so far this season by the same margin. Yockers' 14.8000 is Oklahoma's highest pommel horse score since the 2018 season.
This is Oklahoma's first MPSF weekly award of the season and the first of Yockers' collegiate career.
The Sooners play host to Simpson College on Saturday at McCasland Field House. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m. and will be televised via SoonerVision on ESPN+. Tickets are available at
