September 30, 2022 | Rowing
NORMAN - The Oklahoma rowing team is set to open its 2022-23 season and the Sarah Trowbridge era Saturday in Oklahoma City at the Head of the Oklahoma.
"The team is excited to race and looks forward to any chance to get to go full-tilt down a course," said Trowbridge. "Racing here in Oklahoma City past all the boathouses and under the lights downtown is an awesome way to kick off the year!"
Trowbridge joins OU after spending the last two years as the women's varsity head coach for the Princeton National Rowing Association (PNRA). The 2012 U.S. Olympian will lead OU's 15th rowing team.
The 17th edition of the regatta will begin at 8:55 a.m. CT on Saturday, with the night sprints being held at 7 p.m.
OU is slated to have five boats in the women's collegiate singles at 8:55 a.m., five in the collegiate fours at 11:40 a.m. and three entries in the women's collegiate eights at 2:30 p.m.
The night sprints will conclude the Sooners' fall opener at 7 p.m.
Fans can park in the Boathouse District for $10 and fireworks will be displayed following the night races on Saturday.
