Big Red Rally Returns Thursday, Sept. 1

NORMAN – For the first time since 2009, Oklahoma Athletics will host the Big Red Rally, a football season kickoff event for OU students slated for Thursday, Sept. 1 at 8:30 p.m. at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
The free rally, hosted in partnership with the University of Oklahoma Student Government Association, will feature a speakers' lineup of OU Head Football Coach Brent Venables, voice of the Sooners Toby Rowland, select OU football players, SGA President Zack Lissau and others. The event will also mark the first showing of the 2022 football intro video.
Performances by the Pride of Oklahoma and OU Cheer and Pom, appearances from the Sooner Schooner, mascots and RUF/NEKS will also highlight the night. Students in attendance will have the opportunity to learn stadium cheers and school chants, and the first 2,022 students will receive free Big Red Rally T-shirts. In addition, all students in attendance will have the chance to win free tickets to the Red River Showdown and a signed football from Coach Venables.
Standard game day protocols regarding stadium entry, including metal detectors and prohibited items, will be followed. Empty water bottles will be allowed and refill stations will be open. Concession stands will not be available. With their OU ID, students should enter the stadium via Gate 7, same as on game days. Gate 7 will open at 7:30 p.m.
The Venables era begins Saturday, Sept. 3 at 2:30 p.m. CT when the Sooners host UTEP. For OU ticket information or to purchase tickets, visit www.SoonerSports.com/tickets or call 405-325-2424.
