Sooners Finish Day 1 of U.S. Championships Strong

NORMAN- Sooner alumnus Yul Moldauer and junior Daniel Simmons finished the day strong at Day 1 of the U.S. Championships in Tampa, Florida on Thursday.

Moldauer finished the night in fifth in the all-around. He ended in fourth on both pommel horse (14.100) and still rings (13.750). The alumnus scored a 14.350 on vault, a 14.071 on parallel bars, a 13.750 on floor exercise and a 12.600 on high bar.

Simmons claimed a top-ten spot on floor with a 13.850. He earned a 13.700 on vault, a 13.250 on parallel bars, 12.700 on still rings, 12.450 on pommel horse and a 12.300 on high bar.

Senior Vitaliy Guimaraes was set to compete in the Championships; however, due to medical conditions he had to drop out Thursday.

Senior men's Day 2 of the U.S. Championships will continue on Saturday, August 20 at 6 p.m. CT.

The final day of senior men's competition will be broadcast live on CNBC and will also air tape delay on NBC Sunday at 11:30 a.m. CT. All senior competitions will also stream live on Peacock.
