NORMAN – Oklahoma alumnus Yul Moldauer led Team USA to gold in Sunday's Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He won individual event titles on floor exercise, pommel horse and parallel bars in both Friday and Sunday's competitions.
Team USA (245.698) edged out Brazil (244.234) to take gold in the finals.
Moldauer competed in four events on Sunday, winning the event titles in three. The former Sooner scored a 14.633 on parallel bars, a 14.400 on floor exercise and a 14.000 on pommel horse. On rings, he registered a 13.133.
Current Sooner Cesar Gracia competed for Mexico in the finals, with scores of 13.167 on parallel bars, 12.933 on high bar, 12.500 on still rings and 12.33 on pommel horse. This was Gracia's first international competition.
Team USA secured a men's team spot for the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, set for October 29 through November 6 in Liverpool, England.
