NORMAN – Former OU basketball standout Danielle Robinson is set to open her 11th WNBA season this year and second with the Indiana Fever.
Robinson is scheduled to join the Fever upon the conclusion of her playoff push with OGM Ormanspor in Turkey. The former Sooner has led Ormanspor into the semifinal of the Turkish Women's Basketball Super League for the first time in the organization's history.
The veteran guard enters the season averaging 9.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists for her career, and ranks 18th in WNBA history in career assists with 1,257 career dimes. In her first year in Indiana, Robinson, who graduated from Oklahoma in 2011, started 24 games for the Fever and averaged 9.9 points. 3.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds. This season, she'll look to provide veteran leadership for a Fever team that had four first-round picks in the 2022 WNBA Draft.
While at OU, Robinson led the Sooners to back-to-back Final Four appearances in 2009 and 2010 and finished her career as one of three women's college basketball players to cross the 2,000-point, 700-assist and 300-steal benchmarks for her career.
The Fever's season opener tips at 6 p.m. CT Friday vs. the Washington Mystics in Washington D.C. Robinson and OGM Ormanspor trail Mersin 2-0 in a best-of-five series with game three on May 7.
