Sooners Sweep Wildcats To Advance

FORT WORTH, Texas — The first-seeded Oklahoma women's team defeated Kansas State for the second time this season on Friday with a 4-0 sweep to advance to the Big 12 Women's Tennis Championship semifinal.

OU secured it's 24^th doubles point of the season with wins on court one and three. Dana Guzman and Anchisa Chanta grabbed their seventh win on court three with a 6-3 victory over Florentine Dekkers and Anna Turco. At the top spot, No. 6 Carmen and Ivana Corley clinched the opening point against Karine-Marion Job and Maria Linares 6-3 for the 22^nd win of the season.

When play was halted, Layne Sleeth and Alexandra Pisareva led Ioana Gheorghita and Manami Ukita 5-3 on court two.

No. 69 Chanta was the first one off the court in singles, dominating Karine-Marion Job 6-2, 6-2 on court three, grabbing her 21^st win as a Sooner.

Pisareva took the next win with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the No. 5 spot over Anna Turco to extend the lead for Oklahoma.

Layne Sleeth, ranked 10^th in the nation, clinched the match at the top court against Maria Linares 6-4, 6-2 to send the Sooners to the semifinals.

When play was abandoned, No. 50 Carmen Corley led Florentine Dekkers 6-0, 2-6, 3-2 on court two. On court four, No. 90 Ivana Corley won set one 6-4 and was tied with Ioana Gheorghita 6-6 in set two. Freshman Emma Staker was up 6-4, 2-3 against Rosanna Maffei at the No. 6 spot.
