Blake Robertson tied the game with an RBI single in the ninth inning and
Sebastian Orduno drew a bases-loaded walk to score
Mason Lowe and give Oklahoma a thrilling 7-6 walk-off win over No. 6 Oklahoma State Tuesday night at ONEOK Field.
The Sooners (15-8) came back twice to overcome the Cowboys (18-7) in the first Bedlam meeting of the season, snapping OSU's 11-game winning streak in the process. Oklahoma State scored four runs in the second inning, but Oklahoma bounced back with three runs in the bottom half. The Sooners tied the game at 5-5 with two runs in the sixth on a two-out double by
Jackson Nicklaus. OSU took the lead again with a solo home run in the top of the eighth, before OU scored the game winning runs in the ninth.
"We just kept persevering, coming back and doing our thing," Oklahoma head coach
Skip Johnson said. "Javier (Ramos) was the unsung hero coming in and calming the storm. It was really a special time for him because these guys take pride in what they do. These guys are from Oklahoma. Every game is a big game for us, it doesn't matter if it's Tuesday, Friday or Saturday. You have to try to win all of them."
In the ninth inning,
Peyton Graham was hit by a pitch and moved to third on two wild pitches. Robertson, an Edmond, Okla., product who began his college career at Oklahoma State, then lined a base hit into right field, scoring Graham and tying the game.
Diego Muniz drew a walk, and he and pinch runner
Mason Lowe moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by
Jimmy Crooks. An intentional walk to
Tanner Tredaway loaded the bases for Orduno, who saw a 3-2 pitch outside to bring in the winning run.
Freshmen and Oklahoma products played hero for the Sooners on Tuesday night. Redshirt freshman and Norman High School product
Cade Horton (1-0) doubled in OU's first run of the game, scored two runs and earned the victory in his collegiate pitching debut. He threw the ninth inning and got a strikeout to end the frame. The true freshman Nicklaus went 2 for 3 with three RBIs in his Bedlam debut. Lowe, who scored the winning run, is from Mustang, Okla. Vian, Okla., product

In Oklahoma's three-run second inning, freshman
Max McGwire followed Horton's double with an RBI groundout and Nicklaus singled in the hole at short. OSU's David Mendham singled in a run in the fifth inning and hit the home run in the top of the eighth inning. Zach Ehrhard singled in two runs during the four-run second inning.
The Sooners and Cowboys will meet again April 8-10 for a Big 12 series in Stillwater.
