Benas Earns MPSF Gymnast of the Week

NORMAN — Freshman Fuzzy Benas secured his second MPSF Gymnast of the Week honor Tuesday after taking first in the all-around (81.650) in the Sooners' 408.400-399.050 win over No. 6 Ohio State this weekend.


Benas started the night with a 13.000 on floor and a 13.100 on pommel horse. He earned the Sooners' highest score on still rings with a 13.600 and came up big on vault with a 14.450. The freshman notched a 13.750 on parallel bars to close out the Sooners' fourth rotation. Benas tallied a career-high 13.750 on high bar, assisting the Sooners in earning a season-high 69.400 team score on the event.

OU will host No. 9 California its final home meet of the season on Saturday, March 19, at 6 p.m. CT at McCasland Field House.
