Sandlin Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

NORMAN – Oklahoma pitcher David Sandlin was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after his eight-inning, two-hit performance against UTSA on Sunday, the league office announced Monday.
An Owasso, Okla., product, Sandlin went 8-plus innings in the series-clinching win over the Roadrunners. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished with six strikeouts, two hits and a walk allowed. He retired the first nine batters of the game, and then turned back nine in a row after giving up the first hit of the game.
The victory was Sandlin's second this season. He is 2-2 with a 6.27 ERA (1.29 in his two wins) and has registered 19 strikeouts in 18.2 innings across four starts.
The Sooners (9-5) face Air Force in a two-game midweek set at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Game times are 4 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Wednesday.
