NORMAN — The No. 3 Oklahoma women's tennis team hosted their first outdoor match of the season, leading to a 4-1 victory over Kansas State.
The Sooners opened the match with a clinched doubles point over the Wildcats. Anchisa Chanta and Dana Guzman claimed court three, 6-2, against Dinara Alloyarova and Manami Ukita. No. 68 duo Layne Sleeth and Alexandra Pisareva secured the opening point for OU, taking the No. 2 court, 6-2, over Florentine Dekkers and Ioana Gheorghita.
Singles kicked off with a court five victory from Alexandra Pisareva, 6-3, 6-2, against Dinara Alloyarova.
The Wildcats got on the board with Maria Linares' 6-3, 6-2 win over OU's Ivana Corley on court two.
Junior and No. 36 Carmen Corley tallied a 6-2, 6-3 win on court three over Rosanna Maffei, putting the Sooners up 3-1.
Freshman Emma Staker secured the Sooner victory, taking court six 6-4, 7-5 over Ioana Gheorghita.
When play was halted, No. 17 Layne Sleeth was tied at the top court, 4-6, 7-5, while Anchisa Chanta was up 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 2-0 on court four.
