NORMAN – In the midst of one of the best shooting seasons in NCAA history, Oklahoma senior shooting guard
Taylor Robertson has been named one of 10 finalists for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, given annually to the nation's top shooting guard by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
It's the second time in her career that Robertson, who broke the OU and Big 12 record for career 3-pointers this season, has been named a top-10 finalist for the award. The McPherson, Kan., product is the only player in the Big 12 Conference to make the final watch list.
Robertson has been a critical piece of Oklahoma's top-five scoring offense, pouring in 18.0 points per game along with 4.5 rebounds and a career-high 3.5 assists per game. The sharpshooter is firing her shots from deep at a 46.8% clip, good for second-best in the country. Her 4.09 threes per game lead the nation with no other student-athlete crossing the 4.0 made threes per game threshold. The senior's 94.9% free throw clip is the third-best nationally as her career mark of 92.3% is the best in women's basketball.
Robertson has put together a historic career donning the Crimson and Cream. She was the first player in Big 12 history to hit 100 or more three in back-to-back seasons as a freshman and sophomore and became the third player in the OU annals to reach 1,000 points in two seasons or fewer, joining all-time leading scorers Courtney Paris and Aaryn Ellenberg in that elite group. She currently sits eighth all-time in scoring at Oklahoma.
College basketball fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies in each of the three rounds. The watch list of 10 players for the 2022 Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award will be narrowed to five in late February. In March, those finalists will be presented to Ms. Meyers Drysdale and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected.
The 2022 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award winner will be presented on a to-be-determined date, along with the other four members of the Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard Award, the Cheryl Miller Small Forward Award, the Katrina McClain Power Forward Award and the Lisa Leslie Center Award, in addition to the Men's Starting Five.
