GAINESVILLE, Fla. ā The No. 2 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team dropped it's Friday night matchup with No. 3 Florida, 198.100-197.750, inside the O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla.
The meet was tied after the first rotation, but Florida used a strong second frame to take a lead they would not relinquish. The Sooners took home the event title on beam as a team with a 49.550. Individually, Jordan Bowers and Danielle Sievers shared the vault title with matching 9.925s.
Both teams opened the meet with a 49.400 on their respective events. The Sooners got started on bars with Danielle Sievers leading things off with a 9.825, followed by a 9.85 from Katherine LeVasseur. In the No. 3 spot, Karrie Thomas nailed her double layout dismount for 9.9. Ragan Smith showed off strong handstands in the No. 4 spot for a 9.825. Jordan Bowers showed off a stuck dismount and exceptional handstands for a 9.9 in the No. 5 spot. The No. 1 bars worker in the nation, Audrey Davis anchored with a team-high 9.925.
Florida took the lead with a 49.600 on bars to the Sooners' 49.375 on vault. Davis went from anchoring bars to leading off vault with a 9.8 on her Yurchenko full. Sheridan Ramsey followed with a full of her own for a 9.825. In the No. 3 spot, Allie Stern put up a 9.850 on her Yurchenko full. Bowers added her second mark of 9.9 or better with a 9.925 on her 1.5. LeVasseur added a 9.85 in the No. 5 spot. Anchoring was Sievers with a career-high 9.925.
The Sooners started to close the gap with a 49.425 on floor in the third rotation. Bell Johnson started things off with a 9.85, followed by a 9.875 from Davis. Sievers made her debut on floor and showcased a unique opening pass to earn a 9.850 in the No. 3 spot. In the No. 4 spot, Danae Fletcher earned a 9.825 with her whip to double back first pass. Bowers continued her strong night with her second 9.925 of the night.
In the final rotation, the Sooners posted a 49.550 on beam. Jenna Dunn led things off with a strong triple series and stuck gainer full dismount for a 9.875. Olivia Trautman tied her career high with a 9.925 as she nailed her dismount in the No. 2 spot in just her second routine of the season. LeVasseur rebounded from a fall last week with an effortless routine for a 9.925 in the No. 3 spot. Davis was stunning as usual with a 9.9 in the No. 4 spot. Carly Woodard was poised and strong in the No. 5 spot, earning a 9.925. Smith anchored with a 9.875 to close out the meet.
The Sooners will be back in action Friday, March 4, when they host No. 1 Michigan inside Lloyd Noble Center. OU and Michigan will compete on ESPN2 at 7:45 p.m. CT.
