NORMAN - Oklahoma women's tennis head coach Audra Cohen announced Thursday the addition of Romana Cisovska for the 2022-23 season.

"We are extremely excited to have a player and person of Romana's caliber join our program," said Cohen. "Romana has shown that she can play at the highest level and she will make an immediate impact on our program!"

From Kosice, Slovakia, Cisovska joins the Sooners with a career-high ITF junior ranking of 45 and WTA of 747 in singles and 897 in doubles.

She comes to Oklahoma with six tournament appearances in singles for 2022, where she collected six wins.

In addition, she was crowned the 2020 J1 Kazan champion and has played in five junior Grand Slam tournaments, advancing as far as the round of 16 at Roland Garros.

Cisovska reached the doubles finals in two 2022 W15 tournaments and racked up 10 wins. In her ITF career, she has made the quarterfinals or better in 22 doubles tournaments.

"I have developed a really good connection with the coaches and love the team's energy," said Cisovska. "I am so excited to join OU and am so happy to be a Sooner."

The Sooners are coming off a national runner-up finish in 2022 and the program's most historic season. The team collected 32 wins, eight against top-10 teams and 13 over top-25's and reached the ITA National Indoor championship in the program's first appearance.

OU continues its fall slate at the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, Calif., Nov. 2-6.
