NORMAN – The Oklahoma baseball team will play host to McLennan College in an exhibition scrimmage at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Admission is free and concessions and restrooms will be open. Gates to Mitchell Park open at 12:30 p.m.
This will be OU's second exhibition scrimmage against outside competition this fall. The Sooners faced the Texas Rangers Instructional League team on Oct. 11, claiming an 8-3 victory while compiling five hits, 11 walks and 12 stolen bases.
Sunday's scrimmage will serve as a father-son reunion on the diamond. McLennan college is in its first season under head coach Tyler Johnson, son of sixth-year Oklahoma head coach
Skip Johnson.
The OU roster includes 16 returning players and 31 newcomers for the fall semester. Seven newcomers are transfers from a four-year school and 12 others transferred from a junior college. The OU roster features four catchers, 10 infielders, nine outfielders and 26 pitchers.
Coming off the program's 11th NCAA College World Series appearance and a Big 12 tournament championship, Oklahoma began fall workouts last month in preparation for the 2023 spring season.
Oklahoma continues fall workouts through early November. OU will host a Halloween scrimmage at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 and an intrasquad world series is slated for Oct. 30, Nov. 1 and Nov. 5. All OU fall practices and scrimmages are free and open to the public.
