NORMAN – The Oklahoma baseball team is in the middle preseason workouts with the first team practice set for Friday. The third edition of Around the Bases, highlighting OU's newcomers, features a trio of California natives: redshirt sophomore pitcher/outfielder Chazz Martinez, freshman first baseman Max McGwire and redshirt sophomore outfielder Sebastian Orduno.

What are some of your interests outside of baseball?
Reading, traveling and working out.
What is your favorite sports moment that you've witnessed?
When my brother Renae hit a walk off home run against TCU to win the series. Still gives me chills to this day.
What would be your dream career, aside from baseball?
Paramedic.
What is one place you most want to vacation?
Honolulu, Hawaii. I love it there been once and have dying to go back.
What is your favorite meal to prepare for yourself or friends?
Chicken salad.

What would be your dream career, aside from baseball?
Professional golf.
What is your favorite sports moment that you have witnessed?
Being at Game 6 of the 2011 World Series.
If you could listen to only three musical artists for the rest of your life, who would they be?
Frank Sinatra, Guns N' Roses, Wu Tang Clan.
Who is your favorite athlete?
Michael Jordan, Albert Pujols.
What app on your phone do you use the most?
MLB app, YouTube.

What is one thing you have learned since coming to OU?
Not take anything for granted. This game is a privilege, and it's important to take advantage of all opportunities presented for you.
What is one on-field skill you worked to improve in the offseason?
Finding comfort in the box. Finding something that kept me consistent and worked for me best.
What would be your dream career, aside from baseball?
Anesthesiologist.
What is your favorite food? Describe the perfect meal featuring that food.
Ceviche. A nice cold Orange Jarritos, with a plate of ceviche and a side of tostadas.

Why did you choose to attend OU?
Martinez: Family Tradition. Has been a dream of mine since I came to visit my brother (Renae Martinez).
McGwire: Love the coaching staff and the program.
Orduno: I chose to attend OU because of the success academically and athletically this school has. I felt that this was the school for me to develop and grow not only on the field, but in all aspects of life.
