Sooners Add Transfer Payton Chamberlain

NORMAN – Head Oklahoma volleyball coach Lindsey Gray-Walton announced Thursday the addition of Wyoming transfer Payton Chamberlain for the 2022 season. Chamberlain is a freshman and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
"Payton is another great addition to the Oklahoma volleyball program who aligns with the core values and vision we have for reaching championship success," Gray-Walton said. "A fierce competitor, Payton's successes in both her prep career and freshman campaign at Wyoming will provide a great foundation for growth. She's authentic, competitive, and flat out wins. We are excited about the competition we will have in the gym this spring and the effort and energy that goes into chasing championship success."
At Wyoming, Chamberlain appeared in 83 sets over 24 matches played, tallying 481 assists, 122 digs and 13 service aces. She recorded a career-high 48 assists against Utah State and a career-high 11 digs against San Jose State. On 14 occasions she recorded at least 15 assists and recorded at least 40 assists three times. She also tallied three double-doubles in her freshman campaign.
Prior to Wyoming, Chamberlain competed for Byron Nelson High School. She helped lead her high school to Texas State Championships in 2019 and 2020. The Max Preps Texas High School Volleyball Player of the Year in 2020, Chamberlain was a team captain for Byron Nelson. A member of the Prep Volleyball 2021 Top-150 and a Max Preps Preseason All-American, Chamberlain was the 2019 TAVC 6A, Fort Worth Star Telegram and Dallas News Setter of the Year while also being selected to the TGCA All-Star Team in 2019 as well as the TGCA and TSWA All-State Teams.
Chamberlain is a native of Roanoke, Texas. She is the daughter of Julie and Sherman Chamberlain.
