
Oklahoma vs. West Virginia Rewind

NORMAN – Despite trailing at halftime, No. 4/3 Oklahoma (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) used a late field goal from Gabe Brkic to secure its first Big 12 victory of the season, 16-13, over West Virginia (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) Saturday evening at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
Spencer Rattler led OU through the air, finishing 26 of 36 for 256 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Mike Woods recorded 86-recieving yards on eight catches, both team highs.
Eric Gray rattled off 38 yards rushing on 12 carries, while adding 52-yards receiving on three catches.
Patrick Fields and Brian Asamoah led the OU defense with nine tackles, while Delarrin Turner-Yell tallied eight tackles and one interception.
Oklahoma opened the second half with a Brkic 28-yard field goal with 11:26 remaining in the quarter to tie the game at 10-all.
The Mountaineers responded with a field goal of its own with 5:21 in the third to regain the lead.
The Sooners rattled off a drive that lasted more than eight minutes and again tied the back-and-forth game at 13-all with 8:52 remaining in the game.
The Mountaineers were posed to take back control after marching into OU territory before a WVU penalty and errant snap pushed WVU back to its own 46-yard line.
The Sooners started their drive on the OU 8-yard line with 3:39 left following the Mountaineer punt.
Oklahoma found its rhythm both on the ground and through the air, going deep into WVU territory to position Brkic for the game-winning field goal.
Following a WVU face mask penalty, which positioned the Sooners at the West Virginia 8-yard line, OU's Spencer Rattler slid towards the right hash line to position Brkic with 0:02 second left.
Brkic hit a 30-yard field goal as time expired to propel the Sooners to victory.

AT THE HALF … West Virginia (2-1, 0-0 Big 12) kicked a field goal as time expired in the second quarter to take a 10-7 advantage over No. 4/3 Oklahoma (3-0, 0-0 Big 12) Saturday evening at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
The Mountaineers drove 75 yards to open the game and captured the early lead on a 2-yard rushing touchdown with 5:53 left in the first quarter.
The Sooners responded with a drive of their own to tie the score.
Mario Williams raced 22 yards down the sideline on the kickoff with OU gaining an extra 15 yards on a late hit.
Spencer Rattler connected with Eric Gray, who avoided two tackles on his way down to the West Virginia eight.
Rattler found Austin Stogner three plays later, scoring on a 5-yard completion with 2:46 left in the quarter.
After a near scoreless second quarter, WVU tacked on a field goal as time expired.
Brian Asamoah led the OU defense in the first half with seven total tackles with four solo. Delarrin Turner-Yell made six tackles and recorded an interception.
