Fourteen Sooners Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

NORMAN — Fourteen University of Oklahoma baseball student-athletes were named to the 2021 Academic All-Big 12 Team, the conference office announced Tuesday. The Sooners were represented by 13 first-team selections and one second-team honoree.
OU's 14 Academic All-Big 12 selections are a program record, surpassing the previous high mark of 13 set in 2020. The 13 first-team selections are also a program record. This marks the eighth consecutive year the Sooners have had at least six Academic All-Big 12 selections.
Oklahoma's 13 first-team Academic All-Big 12 selections are: seniors Brady Harlan, Jason Ruffcorn and Braxton Webb, juniors Carson Carter, Tyler Hardman and Tanner Tredaway, sophomores Jaret Godman, Diego Muniz and Wyatt Olds and redshirt freshmen Jake Bennett, Logan Kohler, Kendall Pettis and Christian Ruebeck. Harlan, Ruffcorn and Webb were first-team honorees in 2020, while Godman, Muniz and Olds were second-team selections last year.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulative or over the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
First-team members consist of student-athletes who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
