Reband Named Big 12 Golfer of the Month

April 07, 2021 | Men's Golf

NORMAN — Oklahoma redshirt senior Garett Reband was named the Big 12 men's Golfer of the Month for March; it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

"After a great win in Tucson and some consistent play of recent, Garett is continuing to show he is one of the best in college golf," head coach Ryan Hybl said.

The All-American put together one of the most impressive stretches of his already illustrious career over three events for the Sooners in the month, taking home medalist honors at the men's NIT and runner-up placement in an OU victory at the Cabo Collegiate, paired with a T14 finish at the George Hannon Collegiate.

Reband's 69.56 scoring average led No. 1 Oklahoma as head coach Ryan Hybl's team secured a win and two second-place finishes in March.

It's the second conference accolade for the Sooners in 2020-21 as Logan McAllister took home September honors, and it is Reband's second time as the league's Golfer of the Month. It's the 13th time that a Sooner has been named Golfer of the Month all-time.

The Sooners are coming off an eight-stroke win at the Calusa Cup, where they defeated both No. 1 Florida State and No. 3 Wake Forest. Hybl's squad tees off on Friday in its regular-season finale at the Aggie Invitational in College Station, Texas.
