INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The 2021 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships qualifier selections were announced Tuesday, with the Sooners qualifying as the No. 1 overall seed with a score of 412.300.
The Sooners, hot off their ninth consecutive MPSF conference title, hold the No. 1 spot in the CGA rankings and will compete in the first qualifying session on Friday, April 16, at 1 p.m. CT inside Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minn. OU will take on No. 4 Nebraska, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 8 Illinois, No. 9 Navy and No. 12 William & Mary in the first session. The Sooners will compete against four of the five teams in their session for the first time in 2021 with the only opponent OU has faced in 2021 being No. 12 William & Mary (W, 403.700-384.900 on March 6).
Session two will consist of No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Stanford, No. 6 Penn State, No 7. Iowa, No. 10 Minnesota and No. 12 Cal.
The top three teams and the top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will advance from each qualifying session to the finals, scheduled for 7 p.m. CT Saturday, April 17.
The Sooners have won twelve NCAA men's gymnastics championships with their most recent title coming in 2018, part of a run of four straight national titles under head coach Mark Williams.
