WACO, Texas – The No. 26 Oklahoma men's tennis team fell to No. 7 TCU 4-0 in the Big 12 Championships quarterfinal Saturday in Waco.
OU took TCU to the wire in doubles, but the Horned Frogs took the opening point. In their first match together, Mason Beiler and Nathan Han grabbed a win over TCU's Jacob Fearnley and Bertus Krguer 6-4 at the No. 3 line. Mark Mandlik and Max Stewart fell to No. 4 Luc Fomba and Alastair Gray 6-4 at the top spot to leave the point to be decided on court two. Jake Van Emburgh and Alex
Martinez went the distance with Tadeaus Paroulek and Sander Jong, but fell 7-5.
In singles, Han was defeated by No. 105 Fearnley 6-4, 6-4. Hotard dropped to Jirousek 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 5 line. Mandlik fell to Paroulek 6-4, 6-4 on court six.
When play was halted, No. 102 Van Emburgh had knotted the second set with No. 12 Gray at 3-all after taking the first 7-5.
Beiler was tied at 1-all in the third set on court two. Beiler dropped the first set to No. 19 Fomba 6-2 before taking the second 6-3.
Martinez was about to start a third set with No. 75 Jong on court three. Martinez won the first set handily, 6-3, before Jong came back to win a set two tiebreaker 7-6 (2).
