Sooners Advance With Bedlam Sweep

WACO, Texas – The Oklahoma women's tennis team swept Oklahoma State for the second time this season to advance to the Big 12 Women's Tennis Championships semifinal. The Sooners bested OSU 4-0 in Friday's nightcap.
OU (15-5) secured its eighth consecutive doubles point with wins on courts one and three. At the top spot, No. 25 Carmen and Ivana Corley pushed their winning streak to seven matches as they topped OSU's Lenka Stara and Alana Wolfberg 6-2. Kianah Motosono and Dana Guzman clinched the opening point as they rolled past Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Daniella Medvedeva 6-1.
When play was halted, Sooners seniors Camila Romero and Martina Capurro led Ayumi Miyamoto and Dariya Detkovskaya 5-2 on court two.
No. 80 Guzman was the first Sooner off the court in singles, dominating No. 58 Wolfberg 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 line. The win was good for the OU freshman's eighth in a row and third over a ranked opponent this season.
Capurro struck next with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Detkovskaya at the No. 4 line. Capurro pushed her winning streak to six matches.
Ivana Corley clinched the victory in a second-set comeback on court three. The Sooner dominated her first set with Miyamoto 6-2 before trailing 4-1 in the second. The junior fought her way back to tie things at 5-all, then took the next two games to seal her court and the match.
When play was abandoned, Carmen Corley had just started her second set with No.22 Thamchaiwat on court one. Thamchaiwat won a marathon first set 7-6 (7) and led the second 1-0.
On court five, Motosono trailed Stara 7-6 (3), 3-1. Marcelina Podlinska was up 3-1 in the third set on court six after winning the opener 6-1 and dropping set two to OSU's Medvedeva 6-0.
