KEY NOTES OF THE WEEK:
  • Oklahoma concludes its nine-game homestand with a midweek pair against Texas Southern on Tuesday and Wednesday. Game times are 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and 4 p.m. Wednesday. Tuesday's game was pushed back from the originally listed time of 4 p.m. to accommodate TSU's travel schedule.
  • The Sooners rank third nationally in hits (328), sixth in doubles (67), seventh in runs (245), ninth in walks (168), 15th in scoring (7.9 runs per game), 17th in batting average (.301), 20th in OBP (.405) and 24th in slugging (.472).
  • OU leads the Big 12 in batting average, hits, doubles and doubles per game (2.16), ranks second in the league in runs and strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.58), and third in scoring, walks, OBP and slugging.
  • Skip Johnson won his 100th game as Oklahoma head coach with OU's 10-4 victory over Kansas on Friday night. He accomplished the feat in 166 games and currently has a .601 winning percentage (101-67). Enos Semore (1968-89) won his first 100 games in 161 contests; Larry Cochell (1991-05) won his first 100 games in 154 contests; Sunny Golloway won his first 100 games in 161 contests and Pete Hughes won his first 100 games in 185 games.
  • Tyler Hardman continues to lead the nation in hits (58) and now leads the nation in batting average (.472) and also ranks first in total bases (96). Additionally, he is second nationally in OBP (.563), third in hits per game (1.87), eighth in runs scored (37), 14th in slugging (.780) and 25th in walks (24).
  • Hardman is currently on a 12-game hitting streak and has at least two hits in nine of those 12 games, and six of his last seven contests. He has notched multiple hits in 20 of OU's 31 games this season. During the same 12-game stretch, 11 of his 23 hits have gone for extra bases, and he has tallied six of his eight home runs and four of his 10 doubles.
  • Hardman was 6 for 12 with a home run, three RBIs, five runs scored and a walk in the series against Kansas.
  • Jimmy Crooks batted .500 in the Kansas series (6 for 12) with six RBIs, two home runs, a double and four runs scored, compiling a 1.083 slugging percentage. He homered twice on Saturday; it was his first two-homer game of the season.
  • Brett Squires hit .467 (7 for 15) in four games last week, driving in 11 runs and scoring eight runs. Five of his seven hits went for extra bases (two homers, two doubles, one triple) and he compiled a 1.133 slugging percentage and .556 OBP with three walks. He drove in or scored 17 of Oklahoma's 45 runs scored last week (38 percent).
  • Squires has a hit in each of his last six games and has batted .429 (9 for 21) in that span while raising his season batting average 51 points to .345. He has hit all three home runs, three doubles and a triple in the last six games.
  • Tanner Tredaway went 4 for 5 on Sunday with two doubles and scored three runs. He batted .467 with a home run, two doubles and five runs scored in the Kansas series, and notched five RBIs, four extra base hits and seven runs in four games last week.
  • Peyton Graham has reached base in 27 consecutive games and has homered in his last two outings (second time this season he has homered in consecutive games). The last game in which he did not reach base was Feb. 23 vs. Stephen F. Austin – OU's third game of the season.
  • Over his last four starts, Braden Carmichael has turned in a 2.45 ERA and pitched 22.0 innings, notching 17 strikeouts and allowing just five walks and six earned runs.
  • Ledgend Smith pitched 5.2 innings across two games last week (Tuesday vs. ORU and Friday vs. Kansas) and notched seven strikeouts, allowing five hits and just one run and one walk.
  • Luke Taggart appeared in three games last week, tallying eight strikeouts and allowing only one run on two hits in 5.1 innings. He earned the victory in Tuesday's win over ORU.
  • Diego Muniz has reached base in eight consecutive games and has a hit in seven of his last eight contests. He has scored nine runs over the last four games.
  • Conor McKenna leads the Sooners with 11 multiple RBI games while Hardman has 10 multi-RBI contests. Hardman and McKenna have each registered a team-high 33 RBIs (1.1 per game).
  • Zaragoza has already registered 25 RBIs on the season. His career high prior to this year was 30 RBIs in 2019.
  • Thirty-three percent of Oklahoma's hits (109 of 328) have gone for extra bases. The Sooners have totaled 67 doubles, six triples and 36 home runs in 31 games, an average of 3.5 extra base hits per contest.
