Alo Named Big 12 Player of the Week

March 30, 2021 | Softball

NORMAN — Oklahoma senior Jocelyn Alo has been named Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. It marks her second weekly conference honor of the season, including her second in the past three weeks.

Alo was dominant at the plate yet again in OU's conference-opening sweep over Iowa State. Alo finished the weekend with a slash line of .800/.917/2.400 to go with two home runs, four extra-base hits and seven RBIs. The senior was walked seven times in her 12 plate appearances but still managed to go 4-for-5 with 12 total bases. Alo has now homered in 19 of OU's 25 games and seven of the last nine contests. She leads the nation with 21 home runs and 56 RBIs and batting average among players with 40-plus at-bats (.565).

Oklahoma will host Kansas April 1-3 in Norman. Thursday and Friday's games will begin at 6 p.m. CT with Saturday's contest slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch. All three games of the series will be broadcast on SoonerSports.tv. The contests can also be heard on The Franchise 2 (103.3 FM, 1560 AM) in Oklahoma and the TuneIn app nationwide.
