OKLAHOMA CITY -Ā After 15 months since its last official competition, the Oklahoma rowing team opened the 2021 season on Saturday with a dual against Kansas.
The morning was highlight by an Oklahoma victory in the 1V8 race. The 2V8, 1V4 and 2V4 all finished in second place.
"It's been a unique year and we are operating with a smaller than usual roster due to opt outs and a few key injuries," said head coach
Leeanne Crain. "I hope to see some significant improvements between now and our next race at Clemson. Ā The first varsity eight pulled out a good win, but we need to find a lot more speed in the coming weeks."
In the first race of the day, the Sooners' 2V4 boat finished in 8:15.60. Oklahoma's 1V4 clocked a 7:59.16, coming in second by less than two seconds.
OU's 2V8 crossed the finish line 7:09.34.
Oklahoma's victory in the 1V8 came with a time of 6:37.16.
The Sooners return to action on April 17 when they head to South Carolina for the Clemson Invitational.
