March 25, 2021 | Women's Basketball

NORMAN – Five Sooners were named to 2021 Academic All-Big 12 teams, the conference announced Thursday.

Sophomore guard Gabby Gregory; junior guards Taylor Robertson and Tatum Veitenheimer; and senior forward Mandy Simpson were all named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team (includes student-athletes with a 3.20 or better GPA) while sophomore forward Liz Scott earned Academic All-Big 12 Second Team honors (3.00 GPA or higher).

This is the first career academic honor for Gregory, Robertson and Scott and the second for Veitenheimer. It is the third for Simpson, who will graduate in May and attend nursing school at OU.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests.

Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

Under head coach Sherri Coale, 69 OU players have earned a total of 136 Academic All-Big 12 honors.
