NORMAN ā The Oklahoma women's gymnastics team moved up one spot to No. 4 in the nation with a 196.845 average after posting a season-best 197.800 Sunday afternoon.
Florida remained at No. 1 with a 197.506 average, while LSU held No. 2 with a 197.144 average. Utah remained in third with a 197.090 average and Arkansas rounded out the top five with a 196.775 mark.
OU holds the No. 2 spot on bars (49.365), the No. 3 spot on vault (49.280), the No. 7 spot on floor (49.255) and No. 14 on beam (48.945).
Nine Sooners hold 11 individual rankings. Anastasia Webb leads the way with rankings on three events. The senior ranks seventh on beam (9.910), 22nd in the all-around (39.255) and 23rd on vault (9.860).
Three other seniors join Webb in the rankings as Evy Schoepfer is ranked ninth on vault (9.890), Karrie Thomas is No. 19 on bars (9.870) and Carly Woodard is No. 8 on beam (9.900).
Three freshmen are ranked with Audrey Davis at No. 6 on bars (9.915), Audrey Lynn at No. 13 on vault (9.875) and Katherine LeVasseur at No. 15 on bars (9.875). Ā
Sophomore Vanessa Deniz jumped into the rankings for the first time, coming in at No. 8 on beam with a 9.900 average. Sophomore Ragan Smith rounds out the ranked Sooners with a 9.895 average on floor, good for 12th nationally.
The Sooners will travel down to the Lone Star State to defend their title at the annual Metroplex Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 13. OU has won the last two times and will look to make it three-straight when it takes on Centenary, Iowa State and TWU inside the Fort Worth Convention Center. The meet is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
