OU Narrowly Falls to #24 ASU

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Oklahoma women's tennis team took No. 24 Arizona State to the wire in Tempe but fell just short 4-3.
After dropping the doubles point, OU (3-2) used a singles surge to tie the match at 3-all, but Arizona State prevailed on the final court to take the match.
In doubles, Carmen and Ivana Corley came away with their second win over a ranked opponent at the top spot this season. The sister duo flew past No. 50 Ilze Hattingh and Lauryn John-Baptiste 6-2.
On court two, Dana Guzman and Martina Capurro fell to Sun Devils Tereza Kolarova and Giulia Morlet 6-2. Kianah Motosono and Marcelina Podlinska were defeated by Sammi Hampton and Marianna Argyrokastriti 6-4 on court three.
As singles action got underway, Capurro was forced to retire, giving Arizona State a team point. The Sooner led Np. 115 Sammi Hampton 2-1 on court two when the match was abandoned.
Ivana Corley put the Sooners on the board as she took out John-Baptiste in straight sets on court three. Corley never trailed to win 6-4, 6-2.
Podlinksa fell to Argyrokastriti 6-3, 6-3 on court five and the Sun Devils took a 3-2 lead.
OU tacked on wins on court six, followed by court four to level the score. Motosono held off Kolarova 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 6 line before Guzman downed ASU's Morlet 6-2, 6-4 at the four spot.
The match came down to the top court, where Carmen Corley took No. 31 Hattingh to a third frame. Corley dropped the first set 7-6 but roared back to claim the second frame 6-4. Hattingh prevailed 6-0 in the final set to claim the court and the match for ASU.
