NORMAN – Oklahoma head coach
K.J. Kindler notched her 500
th career win in a quad meet victory over Denver, Lindenwood and TWU Friday night inside Lloyd Noble Center.
The Sooners notched a 197.175 to take down Denver (196.875), TWU (193.650) and Lindenwood (191.625). OU improved to 14-0 on the year and 4-0 in the Big 12 as they picked up a conference win over rival Denver.
This is the second milestone win for Kindler in 2021. On Feb. 13, the 15-year head coach reached her 400
th win as the head coach of Oklahoma.
"A coach only wins when their players are amazing," Kindler said. "They're the reason I'm here and the reason we do what we do as a staff. This is their win, too – it's definitely their 400th win at Oklahoma; we've been a staff together the whole time and we do what we do because we want these young women to enjoy their experience, to get every single little last bit out of it and to walk out being a better person, having a plan with their life and just growing. We do this for them; this is theirs, really, not ours. Kudos to our alumni – I saw many of them in the stands tonight and all those across the country, you guys did this."
Freshman
Audrey Davis won a pair of event titles on the night. For the fifth time this season, Davis took home the uneven bars title with a career-best 9.95. The freshman also took home vault with a 9.95 as she tallied her second career high of the night. Sophomore
Jenna Dunn and senior
Karrie Thomas shared the beam title with matching 9.9s. Denver's Lynnzee Brown won floor with a 9.975 and the all-around with a 39.650.
"So many feelings," Kindler said. "Lot of good things, then a lot of not so great things. We just need to put all four events together. Tonight, bars was our best performance of the year. Even if the score doesn't show it, we definitely stuck the most landings, were really good with our angles today, very aggressive, I felt, on bars. I think we had four stuck landings and two tiny little checks on landings. So, a really good day on bars. Also, Ragan back in the lineup on bars – I know a lot of people are wondering how she's doing and if she's coming back. Ironically enough, she stuck her first bar dismount today after injuring her ankle, so I would say she's doing pretty good. She's coming back on all the events right now and we should see her soon."
The Sooners led after the first rotation, notching a 49.375 on vault. Denver tallied a 49.275 on bars, TWU a 48.425 on beam and Lindenwood a 47.800 on floor in the first rotation. Sophomore
Allie Stern notched a 9.750 in the No. 2 spot in the rotation. Freshman
Katherine LeVasseur added a 9.850 on a huge Yurchenko 1.5, followed by a 9.9 from senior
Anastasia Webb. In the No. 5 spot, senior
Evy Schoepfer stuck her tucked 1.5 for a 9.925. Davis anchored with a career-high 9.95 on her Yurchenko 1.5 with a gorgeous vault and stuck landing.
"
Audrey Davis, doing the vault for the second time, stuck it," Kindler said. "Won the event as a freshman the second time doing it – really impressive. Evy also just really sticking her vault cold. I thought that was really exceptional."
OU notched a season-high 49.475 on bars in the second rotation with Denver going 49.225 on beam, TWU 48.550 on floor and Lindenwood tallying a 48.875 on vault. The Sooners stuck five of six dismounts in the rotation. Junior
Olivia Trautman tallied a 9.850 in the leadoff spot. LeVasseur matched her career high on the event with a 9.925 as she nailed the landing on her double layout dismount. Sophomore
Ragan Smith added a 9.875 in her first time in the lineup since Feb. 13. Webb finally nailed her dismount for a 9.85 in the No. 4 spot, while Thomas added a 9.875 in the No. 5 spot with a stuck double layout. Anchoring again was Davis who matched her career best with a 9.50 and a stuck double front.
The third rotation was uncharacteristic as the Sooners had been strong on beam the last three weeks. OU tallied a 49.000 on the event, with Denver adding a 49.175 on floor, TWU a 48.225 on vault and Lindenwood a 48.400 on bars. Sophomore
Jenna Dunn started things off strong for the Sooners with a phenomenal routine as she nailed her triple series and stuck her gainer full dismount for a leadoff 9.9. In the No. 2 spot, Schoepfer followed with a 9.750 and Davis added a 9.75 in the No. 4 spot. Thomas notched a 9.9 in the No. 5 spot and Webb anchored with a 9.7.
"Balance beam started off great," Kindler said. "Jenna really getting us started and definitely when we make mistakes, we have to be more aggressive following up on those. Those are going to happen and we have to remember that our gymnastics is our gymnastics and we do it whether it's smooth sailing or a rough sea. Just need to be more aggressive when those things happen and going for it a little bit harder."
OU closed out the meet with a 49.325 on floor to Denver's 49.200 on vault, TWU's 48.450 on bars and Lindenwood's 46.550 on beam. Senior
Jordan Draper started things off strong with her energetic routine for a 9.875. Schoepfer wrapped up her three event night with a 9.875 of her own. Freshman
Bell Johnson tallied a 9.825, followed by a 9.85 from
Emma LaPinta. Webb anchored the rotation and the meet with a 9.900 for a 39.350 all-around score.

Jordan Draper,
Evy Schoepfer,
Karrie Thomas,
Anastasia Webb and
