Ā NORMAN ā A trio of Sooners swept the Big 12 weekly awards as Audrey Davis, Jordan Draper and Anastasia Webb were each honored, the conference announced Tuesday.
Webb was named the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for the seventh time in her career and fourth time this season. The Morton Grove, Ill. native has now earned 14 career honors. Davis earned her third career honor as she was named the Newcomer of the Week. Draper earned her first career honor as the Event Specialist of the Week. With Draper's recognition, the Sooners have now had someone from each class earn the award: Katherine LeVasseur (freshman), Allie Stern (junior) and Jenna Dunn (sophomore).
Webb had a career night at the Metroplex Challenge as she brought home four event titles and a perfect score. The senior notched a perfect 10.0 on vault, a 9.8 on bars, a season-best 9.975 on beam and a career-high 9.95 on floor to earn a career-high 39.725 in the all-around. Webb boasts the third highest all-around score in the nation and is one of just three gymnasts with a perfect score on vault. The perfect mark was the second of her career and the first on vault. She was instrumental to leading OU to a nation-leading 198.225 that included a season-high 49.750 on vault.
Davis debuted an upgraded vault on Saturday, earning a career-high 9.925 on her Yurchenko 1.5. The freshman anchored a vault lineup that counted only scores of 9.925 or higher and set a nation-best 49.750. Davis also added a 9.875 on bars and a 9.850 on beam.
Draper was recognized for the first time in her career as she set a career high on bars and a season high on floor. The senior notched a 9.900 on bars to bring home her first event title of the season. On floor, she added a 9.900 in the leadoff spot to lead the Sooners to a season-best 49.500 on the event.
The Sooners will travel to Raleigh, N.C., for a quad-meet at NC State on Friday featuring NC State, George Washington and William & Mary. The meet is slated for a 5 p.m. start on ACC Network Extra.
