OU Travels to Austin for Head of the Colorado

NORMAN – Oklahoma rowing travels to Austin, Texas for their final race of the fall schedule, Oct. 30 where they will compete in the Head of the Colorado. The one-day regatta will feature the Sooners' novice roster.
"We are really excited for our novice team to compete at the Head of the Colorado regatta this weekend," said OU assistant rowing coach Dinah Harjo, who oversees the Oklahoma novice squad. "For the majority of our athletes racing, this is their first ever experience racing, so the opportunity to compete now is a pivotal opportunity as we build momentum towards our spring championship season.
The event, hosted by the Austin Rowing Club, has been held on Lady Bird Lake since the mid-1980s.
The Sooners will have one boat compete in each of the women's collegiate eight and collegiate four races. They will then have three boats in the women's collegiate novice eight and have four boats in the women's collegiate novice four.
First action for the Sooners will be the women's collegiate eight starting at 9:05 am on Saturday. The rest of OU boats will have to wait until the afternoon to compete.
