Baseball No. 23 in Baseball America Preseason Poll

NORMAN — The Oklahoma baseball team, preparing for its fourth season under head coach Skip Johnson, is ranked No. 23 in the Baseball America Top 25 poll, which was released Monday.
The Sooners ended the shortened 2020 season ranked No. 9 in the Baseball America poll with a 14-4 record. OU was also ranked 19th in the 2020 Baseball America preseason poll.
Oklahoma returns 24 players from the 2020 team and welcomed 18 newcomers to the roster, but must replace three members of its weekend rotation from last year. Included among the returners are 11 position players that saw action in eight of the 18 games last spring and 11 pitchers that made at least three appearances last season. The newcomer group features eight transfers and 10 freshmen.
OU released its 2021 schedule on Friday. The Sooners are slated to play five teams, totaling 13 games, also ranked in the Baseball America Preseason Top 25: No. 3 Texas Tech, No. 12 Texas, No. 13 TCU, No. 14 Arkansas and No. 15 Arizona.
The Sooners open the 2021 season at home, Feb. 19-21, against Southern at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
