January 19, 2021 | Men's Gymnastics

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma men's gymnasts Spencer Goodell and Gage Dyer each claimed a gymnast of the week honor for their performances over the weekend at the Rocky Mountain Open, the MPSF conference and College Gymnastics Association announced Tuesday.

The junior, Goodell, was named MPSF Gymnast of the Week following his all-around victory at the Rocky Mountain meet. Goodell won the title with a career-best 81.250 that ranks third nationally. The Tigard, Ore., native tied or bested his career highs on five of six events and finished in the top five on four events, including runner-up finishes on parallel bars (13.800) and still rings (13.750).

Dyer picked up CGA Event Specialist of the Week honors for his floor performance over the weekend. He showed his All-America status on floor exercise in the Sooners season-opening win over Air Force and Arizona State. The senior captain won the event title with a 14.850 routine that ranks first in the country by four-tenths. Additionally, Dyer took home top-five finishes on vault (14.250) and high bar (13.300), taking third and fifth, respectively.

The Sooners return to the floor this weekend against Air Force at 6 p.m. CT Saturday night in the home opener at McCasland Field House. The meet will be available to watch on FOX Sports Oklahoma.

Due to limited seating capacity related to COVID-19 precautions, OU will not sell season or single-meet tickets to the Sooners' home meets at McCasland Field House. Home and visitor student-athletes will receive a limited number of complimentary tickets on a pass-list basis.
