Seven Sooners Named to Big 12 Academic At-Large Team

NORMAN – Seven University of Oklahoma men's gymnasts were among sixty-two selections to the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Team, the conference announced Friday.

Sophomore Morgan Seyler, redshirt sophomore Mason Menser, redshirt juniors Randy Scharnhorst and Matt Wenske and redshirt seniors Grant Kell and Collyn Kellogg were all honored as first-team selections, while redshirt freshman Braden Collier earned second-team honors.

Kellogg was one of six student-athletes to register a 4.0 grade point average.

The Academic At-Large Team recognizes classroom achievements by student-athletes at Big 12 schools who compete in sports outside of conference competition. To earn first-team recognition, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or better, while second-team members hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. All selections must also meet minimum participation guidelines. 

All seven Sooners were also named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Academic Scholar-Athletes in early April.
