Graham Named Big 12 Player of the Week

NORMAN – Oklahoma baseball freshman Peyton Graham has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week after hitting .500 in five games last week, the conference office announced Monday.
Graham went 10 for 20 at the plate, scoring nine runs and tallying four RBIs to lead the Sooners to a 4-1 week, including a series win over San Diego State. He scored the winning run in the 10th inning Sunday after leading off with a single and stealing second base. The OU third baseman homered twice on Saturday, doubled twice on Friday, and scored three runs in each game Saturday and Sunday.
A product of Waxahachie, Texas, Graham recorded two hits in all five games last week, six of which went for extra bases (four doubles, two homers), and posted a 1.000 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage. He also drew five walks and was 3 for 3 in stolen bases. Against Dallas Baptist on Tuesday, he went 2 for 2 with a double, three walks and two runs scored.
Graham is the first Oklahoma freshman to be named the Big 12 Player of the Week since Hunter Lockwood on April 2, 2012, and the first OU freshman to earn any Big 12 weekly award since Sheldon Neuse in 2014 (newcomer). This the third consecutive week an Oklahoma player has earned a conference award. Tanner Tredaway was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Feb. 24 and Dane Acker was named Pitcher and Newcomer of the Week on March 2.
The ninth-ranked Sooners (13-4) are on the road for five games this week, beginning Tuesday at UT Arlington. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. in Arlington, Texas. OU will then travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., for a four-game series at Cal Poly that begins Thursday.
