March 08, 2020 | Men's Basketball

NORMAN – Three Oklahoma men's basketball players earned Big 12 honors for the 2019-20 season, the conference announced Sunday.

Senior forward Kristian Doolittle was named to the All-Big 12 First Team, junior forward Brady Manek collected All-Big 12 Third Team honors and junior guard Austin Reaves was selected to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team along with earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention status.

Joined by Jared Butler (Baylor), Udoka Azubuike (Kansas), Devon Dotson (Kansas) and Desmond Bane (TCU), Doolittle earned First-Team honors with averages of 15.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals. He enters the postseason ranked fourth in the league in both points and rebounds.

OU's lone senior, Doolittle has produced 10 double-doubles this season. He leads the Big 12 in 20-point double-doubles (four).

Doolittle is the 10th Sooner to earn All-Big 12 First Team recognition since the league was formed in 1996. He joins Corey Brewer, Eduardo Najera, Aaron McGhee, Hollis Price (twice), Taj Gray, Blake Griffin (twice), Romero Osby, Buddy Hield (twice) and Trae Young.

Manek, an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection in 2018-19, reached Third Team status with averages of 14.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. The sharpshooter has sunk 71 3-pointers at a 38% clip.

The Harrah, Okla., native is eighth in the Big 12's scoring race. His 2.3 3-pointer per game rank fourth in the league.

Coming off a redshirt season after transferring from Wichita State, Reaves was one of the top newcomers in the Big 12. He ranks sixth in the league in scoring with 14.7 points while also averaging 5.3 points and 3.0 assists. Reaves and Tyrese Haliburton (Iowa State) are the only players in the conference to averaging least 14 points, five boards and three dimes.

Reaves is coming off a 41-point performance at TCU - the most points scored by a Big 12 player this season.

The trio of Sooner award winners make up the top scoring trio in the Big 12. All three ranked in the top eight in scoring in the Big 12. Oklahoma is joined by Alabama and Arkansas as the only major-conference teams with three players averaging at least 14 points.

The Sooners head to Kansas City as the No. 3 seed in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship. After a first-round bye, Oklahoma will take on sixth-seeded West Virginia in the quarterfinals on Thursday night at 8 CT. The game will air on either ESPN or ESPN2.
