Robertson Supasses 1,000 to Close Regular Season

March 07, 2020 | Women's Basketball

NORMAN – Taylor Robertson scored her 1000th career point Saturday as the Sooners fell to Texas Tech 106-94 on Sunday inside Lloyd Noble Center.

With the loss, OU moves to 12-18 and 5-13 in Big 12 play while Texas Tech improves to 18-11 and 6-11 against the league.

"Texas Tech can be really volatile offensively and they were that today. You could see how they can score on most anybody," said head coach Sherri Coale.

"I thought we battled back in the second half and obviously put a lot of points on the board ourselves ... I thought we pulled ourselves out of it and played much better in the second half. We evened up the rebounding margins, scored much better, had four or five stops in a row a couple of times which we couldn't string together in the first half."

Robertson finished the day with 20 points, reaching the milestone, as if scripted, on a 3-pointer from the top of the key.

The sophomore becomes the 37th member of OU's 1,000 points club, joining teammate Ana Llanusa, who achieved the feat earlier this season. Robertson is the third player in program history to hit 1,000 career points in two seasons or fewer, joining elite company with Courtney Paris and Aaryn Ellenberg. Paris went on to score 2,729 in her career to become OU's all-time leading scorer, while Ellenberg ranks second in program history with 2,328.

In addition to Robertson, three more Sooners scored in double figures for the Sooners with Williams leading the charge with 24 points on 10-for-16 shooting. Williams pulled down 10 boards for her sixth double-double of the season and second in Big 12 play.

Freshman Gabby Gregory had 14 points and dished five assists while Llanusa chipped in 13 points and had five steals.

Three Lady Raiders scored 20 points or more as Andrayah Adams led all scorers with 29 points; Lexi Chrislyn Carr had 23; and Lexi Gordon posted 22.
