Reband, Cummins Named to U.S. Palmer Cup Team

NORMAN — Oklahoma seniors Quade Cummins and Garett Reband have been selected to represent the United States at the 2020 Palmer Cup, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Friday.

The selection is the second straight for Cummins and first for Reband. They join OU alumnus Brad Dalke on the list of Sooners to represent the Crimson and Cream at the event. Dalke and OU head coach Ryan Hybl led the U.S. squad to a victory over the international team in the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup.

Cummins and Reband will be part of the 24-player United States team that will compete against the top international collegiate golfers in the world, June 3-5 at the Lahinch Golf Club in Claire, Ireland.

Cummins helped the Sooners to two team wins this season and had five top-15 individual finishes. Cummins shattered records at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic in the fall, posting a 193 (-20) to finish second. The Weatherford, Okla., native is ranked No. 5 nationally by GolfStat and has a 70.01 stroke average this season.

Reband is ranked No. 3 nationally by GolfStat with a 69.90 scoring average. He collected five top-10 victories, including a share of first place at the Puerto Rico Classic to begin the spring season.

The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Fla., in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top male university/college golfers matching the United States against the international team.
