The Year That Was: Cross Country

Under new guidance, the Oklahoma cross countryĀ teams finished their 2019 campaign with five top-15 finishes as a team, including two top-five spots as a group and 13 Academic All-Big 12 Team honorees.

As we shift our focus to the health and safety of our nation, let's not forget about all we've accomplished.Ā Here are a list of some of our favorite accomplishments fromĀ the 2019Ā XC season.Ā

Thirteen Oklahoma cross country team members were named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country Team.Ā Grace Barber, Elise Boisvert, Alison Hepp, Jordyn Kaplan, Reagan Kappel and Natalie O'Brien were named to the women's squad while Ackeen Colley, Justice Dick, Andrew Doherty, Jordan Gledhill, Derek King and Heath Warren were named to the men's team. Ā

The 2019 edition of OU XC featured plenty of underclassmen, with just five graduating seniors. Departing the Sooners in 2020 is senior Grace Barber on the women's side and Andrew Doherty, Zach Gentry, Tyler Phillips and Heath Warren on the men's squad.Ā

OU put together five top-15 finishes as a team in 2019. At the season-opening Hurricane Preview, the women's squad placed third while the men took fourth. At the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., the OU men placed 15th. The Sooners began the postseason with eighth- and ninth-place finishes at the Big 12 XC Championship in Waco, Texas.Ā
