NORMAN ā For five straight weeks, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team has remained the top team in the nation.
OU posted a 197.600 against No. 16 Iowa State on Friday, Jan. 31, to improve to 10-0 on the year. The Sooners are averaging a 197.763 through six meets to maintain their hold on the No. 1 ranking. Florida remained in second (197.594), followed by Utah in third (196.944), Denver in fourth (196.940) and UCLA in fifth (196.925).
Oklahoma is the top vault (49.463) and bars (49.538) team in the nation. The Sooners rank third on beam (49.371) and floor (49.392).
Seven Sooners earned 13 individual national rankings. Senior Maggie Nichols is No. 1 in the all-around (39.775) and on vault (9.954). She is No. 3 on floor (9.95) and fourth on bars (9.937).
Junior Anastasia Webb ranks No. 12 in the all-around (39.408), fourth on vault (9.904) and 13th on beam (9.887). Senior Jade Degouveia is ranked on a pair of events, coming in at No. 6 on bars (9.921) and No. 21 on vault (9.862).
Freshman Ragan Smith is ranked 20th in the all-around with a 39.275 average. Sophomore Olivia Trautman is No. 17 on bars (9.881) and sophomore Allie Stern is No. 16 on vault (9.871). Freshman Vanessa Deniz comes in at No. 25 on bars (9.863).
The Sooners will head to Denton, Texas for their lone road meet of the season at Texas Woman's University. The two teams will compete on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. CT.
