Coale Receives KYCF Impact Award

NORMAN – Oklahoma basketball head coach Sherri Coale has been named the recipient of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund's 2019 Impact Award.
Coale was presented at the annual Kay Yow Cancer Fund Golf Classic in August 2019.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund Impact Award is given to an individual or organization exemplifying Coach Yow's spirit, reflecting her resolve, grace, generosity, and servant's heart. Coach Yow was the epitome of courage and strength. In the face of great adversity, her response was always to give to others. There is no better example than while battling stage 4 cancer, Coach Yow gave her greatest gift – the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. In that same spirit, the Impact Award is presented in recognition of making a significant impact in the fight against cancer, improving lives, and giving hope.
Since 2012, head coach Sherri Coale has been a member of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is comprised of colleagues from the women's basketball world, distinguished physicians, respected business leaders, prominent media representatives, and allies in the fight against all cancers affecting women.
OU hosts a Play4Kay game each year and provides outreach to cancer survivors and fighters in the community through the annual event. This year, the 12 members of the team independently gave $2,500 to the Kay Yow Cancer fund.
