NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's gymnastics team posted the top score in the country this season with a 198.400 to remain the No. 1 team in the country for the seventh week in a row.
OU improved to 13-0 on the season with a tri-meet victory over Texas Woman's and West Virginia Friday in Norman. The Sooners are averaging a 197.859 through eight meets to maintain their hold on the No. 1 ranking. The Sooners have now been ranked No. 1 every week since Jan. 7, 2019, a streak of 19 weeks.
The rest of the top five remained unchanged as Florida sits in second (197.688), Utah and UCLA are tied for third (197.071) and Denver is in fifth (197.054).
Oklahoma remained the top vault (49.500) and bars (49.538) team in the nation. The Sooners rank third on beam (49.422) and floor (49.400).
Eight Sooners combined for 16 individual national rankings for the second straight week. Senior Maggie Nichols is No. 1 in the all-around (39.775) and on vault (9.961). She is No. 2 on bars (9.95) and third on floor (9.950).
Junior Anastasia Webb sits at No. 13 in the all-around (39.4447), ninth on vault (9.891) and 11th on beam (9.887). Senior Jade Degouveia is ranked on a pair of events, coming in at No. 5 on bars (9.913) and No. 17 on vault (9.881).
Freshman Ragan Smith is ranked 14th in the all-around with a 39.363 average and 19th on beam with a mark of 9.881. Sophomore Olivia Trautman is No. 3 on vault (9.925) and 17th on bars (9.875). Sophomore Allie Stern is No. 12 on vault (9.884), junior Carly Woodard is No. 21 on beam (9.878) and freshman Vanessa Deniz is No. 22 on bars (9.869).
The Sooners will be back in action Friday night at the annual Perfect 10 Challenge in Oklahoma City, Okla. The meet will be held inside the Cox Convention Center with the Sooners and the Stanford Cardinal facing off. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door for $15.
