Reband Ready for College Golf Showcase

December 16, 2020 | Men's Golf

NORMAN – Oklahoma redshirt senior Garett Reband tees off in the College Golf Showcase on Wednesday night in a made-for-TV charity exhibition that features four of the nation's best collegiate golfers and a star-studded celebrity group. The event, which airs on the Golf Channel at 6 p.m. CT will raise $1 million for different military foundations.

The inaugural showcase is hosted by Scottsdale National Golf Club and splits the group into two four-man teams – Team Rubicon and Team Semper Fi.

The format is a scramble skins shootout with $1 million in total prize money that will be awarded to each team's respective charity by The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation. Parsons is the founder of OU golf outfitter Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG) and is the owner of Scottsdale National.

Reband is joined on Team Rubicon by Oklahoma State's Austin Eckroat and Pro Football Hall of Famers Jerome Bettis and Brian Urlacher. Team Semper Fi is comprised of SMU's Mac Meissner, Arizona's Trevor Werbylo, Grammy-award winner Darius Rucker and comedian Rob Riggle. Each college player will be caddied by their head coach.

Reband is the No. 7 player in the latest PGA Tour U rankings, sitting just two spots off automatic status to the Korn Ferry Tour. The Oklahoma All-American is a member of the United States' team for the 2020 Palmer Cup and owns the all-time Oklahoma record for career scoring average versus par.

Each college golfer competing in Scottsdale ranks inside the top 10 of the PGA Tour U rankings. The rankings are a new system created by the PGA to create a bridge between professional and collegiate golf, rewarding the top five seniors in the nation with automatic status on the Korn Ferry Tour after the NCAA Championships, while players ranked No. 6-15 can earn status on other professional tours.

The showcase will re-air on Sunday, December 20 from 2-4 p.m. CT.
