NORMAN — University of Oklahoma alumnus and U.S. Men's National Team member Yul Moldauer is set to compete in Tokyo, Japan, this weekend as part of an international FIG competition.
The Friendship and Solidarity Competition will begin Saturday, Nov. 7 at 10 p.m. CT. The meet will be available to watch on the Olympic Channel and available via livestream on NBCSports.com/live and the NBC Sports app for Olympic Channel subscribers.
The mixed-gender meet will be a team competition with two 15-member squads, Team Friendship and Team Solidarity. The top three scores on each apparatus per team will count toward the final team score. There will be no individual competition. Accompanying Moldauer on Team Friendship is fellow USMNT member Shane Wiskus.
The international meet marks Moldauer's first competitive action since the Winter Cup Challenge in February 2020. The 2019 OU alum claimed the vault title at the meet and added a third-place finish on parallel bars. He tallied the best two-day all-around score at the meet, 165.900, to retain his U.S. Senior Men's National Team spot.
This weekend's meet combines some of the best gymnasts in the world from the U.S., China, Japan and Russia as countries continue to prepare for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) organized the event as a "showcase of international camaraderie."
